Freakin’ GameTrailers.com
September 12th, 2007 Posted in PS2, WiiYou know, I really do like the site for the amount of videos they have, and the ease with which they can be embedded — not to mention the quality of the vids, but when one, such as I, decides to upload a video to said service in an attempt to use their video player instead of some embedded plugin version, one would hope that it wouldn’t take more than 24+ hours to do it… right?
Well, yesterday morning I got a copy of a developer walk-thru for a game called King of Clubs, by Oxygen Interactive in the UK. The game itself is a mini-putt game on the Wii and PS2 that looks like it might be a fun diversion from everyday life every once and a while. So anyways, I get the trailer, load it up on Gametrailers.com and it says that it’s compressing. Good. Great. Hours go by… nothing. More hours… still compressing. Even today… even 20 friggen minutes ago… compressing, be patient, it takes a while. arrgh.
Then lo and behold, I notice that someone else has sucessfully already uploaded (albeit about 15 hours after I was going to) the walk-thru. Wonderful.
So what do you think I should do in this case in the future? Wait for it to compress? Or just play it through quicktime here. I’m attaching both methods so you can take a looksee.

It should never take that long to compress such a small file into flash, however since you were using their public servers maybe that is the reason why it was taking so long, if you email them they might give you an answer but I guess you might have already thought/done that.
Quicktime is alright, but then again it’s up to you on how much storage/bandwith you’re willing to shed if you’re going to be posting alot of videos.
Otherwise I would reccomend that you search for a way to customize your own flash player plugin, and then you can obviously compress and upload the videos faster.

The show will be around from time to time. This is more of a blog now… if you read my “your eyes do not deceive” post.
Also, the forums… meh, they weren’t used all that much. Email me, or leave comments on the site.
